About Chisholm Trail Homes

Our Heritage Defines Us

The Chisholm Trail was one of the most famous cattle-driving routes of the late 19th century, running from Texas to Kansas. Named after Jesse Chisholm, a trader of mixed Scottish and Cherokee descent, the trail became the primary route for moving cattle from ranches in Texas to railheads in Kansas. The trail passed through Fort Worth, which became a key stopover for cattle drives.

Fort Worth’s association with the Chisholm Trail solidified its status as a significant cattle town, earning it the nickname “Cowtown.” The legacy of the trail is still evident in Fort Worth today, from its historic Stockyards to the city’s celebration of its Western heritage.
